| Zitura Watch Limited, founded in 1952, was granted a manufacturing license from the Swiss Federal Office of Economy. This prestigious license was difficult to acquire at the time as the government intended to rebuild the Swiss watch industry after World War II and only allowed companies of the highest manufacturing standard to hold a manufacturing license for watches. At first, Zitura produced watches with mechanical movements and then focused its production of medium and high class watches at affordable prices. The main range consisted of wrist watches with mechanical movements, both water resistant and robust. An outstanding time-piece of that epoch was their "Military watch". With a movement of 30 mm thick, it was extremely robust. This movement was one of the most accurate worldwide and experienced great success in Europe. In the 1980s, Zitura began developing a dial made of 24K solid gold. Up until that time, manufacturers simply glued a gold piece onto a dial, which would eventually fall off and break. Not only do these types of glued gold ingot watches not have the mirror sheen of a Zitura watch, they can also never be repaired once broken. The Zitura ingot dial was an extraordinary development in the watch industry. A Zitura gold ingot dial is minted in an exclusive and secret process in one single stamp. The process does not allow for any imperfections as they would mar the mirror effect of the dial. It took Zitura over two years to develop the minting process of 24K gold dials and produce the elegant flat watches that characterize Zitura today. Zitura’s pure gold and fine platinum ingot watches are made entirely in Switzerland.
